History of the Scrip Program Within El Dorado Union High School District
In 1994-95 the El Dorado Union High School District’s athletic program sustained $175,000 in budget reductions. The full athletic program remained intact with the fund-raising efforts of parents and students as well as with support from the Athletic Directors and the inception of the Scrip Fund-raising Program. In order to raise $175,000, a fund-raising activity of 40 hours per-athlete-per-sport was established or a $95 donation per-athlete-per-sport in lieu of the 40 hours of participation could be given. If your child will be participating in high school athletics, you can raise the $95 donation by making purchases that will generate scrip donations by merchants. There are also other (nonathletic) programs at each of the four comprehensive high schools in the District where scrip credits can be accumulated and used for expenses as determined by the Program Advisors.

What is Scrip?
Scrip is a term which means "substitute money." Parents, family, and friends can earn scrip credits from participating merchants they normally shop with.  The scrip credits they earn can benefit their student(s) or the approved programs their student(s) are involved in at the four comprehensive high schools within the District. These merchants track purchases and donate a percentage of these purchases to the District’s schools. The scrip credits are posted to individual student accounts or program accounts. The scrip credits earned in a student's account can be used towards the $95.00 athletic donation, ASB items as ASB stickers, Homecoming tickets, Prom tickets, Band, Drama, Future Farmers, Key Club, and Vocal programs.  You can even purchase a yearbook using your student's script credits.

There are four scrip programs that the El Dorado Union High School District participates in:

(1) Raleys/Bel Air/Nob Hill markets paperless scrip
(2) eScrip (Safeway, participating restaurants, and internet merchants)
(3) Food4Less/ Nugget Markets
(4) Savemart S.H.A.R.E.S. program.

Scrip Program Account Set-up Form
Every person who would like their scrip purchases tracked by participating merchants must complete the Scrip Program Account Set-up Form and have it on file at the El Dorado Union High School District Office.  The information on this form is used to post the earned scrip credits to the student and/or program of choice. If this form is not on file at the District Office, the scrip credits are posted to the general athletic work program of one of the District’s comprehensive high schools and used at the discretion of the schools’ Athletic Directors. The Scrip Program Account Set-up Form can be obtained by: (1) Linking to the Form (typeable Word format):  (You can type the information onto the form, save it to your folder, then print it out, and either mail it to the address noted on the form or attach it to an e-mail.), (2) obtaining a form at the El Dorado Union High School District Office at 4675 Missouri Flat Road, Placerville, CA, Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. year-round, or (3) calling Kelly Parker, Scrip Coordinator, at 530.622-5081, ext. 7234, who will take the required information over the phone.

Raley's/Bel Air/Nob Hill Foods Quality of Life Paperless Scrip Card
The Quality of Life Card has replaced the paper scrip program. These cards are available at the El Dorado Union High School District Office and can be picked up Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or can be mailed by request.  After receiving the Quality of Life Card, simply activate your card number on-line at www.raleys.com or www.nobhill.com
. After activating your card, present it to the cashier each time you shop at Raley’s, Bel Air, or Nob Hill Foods.  These stores will track your purchases and donate a percentage based on your monthly spending to the District high school of your choice.  Raley's Markets  send out their checks on a quarterly basis.  When we receive the scrip donation, the credits will be posted to the student and/or program you have chosen on your Scrip Program Account Set-up Form based on the earnings reported by Raley's for your card number.  The four organizations we have registered with the Raley’s/Bel Air/Nob Hill Foods Quality of Life Paperless Scrip Card Program are:

El Dorado HS
Oak Ridge HS
Ponderosa HS
Union Mine HS

Independence HS
Shenandoah HS

ID# 16
ID# 13
ID# 14
ID# 15

ID# 3835
ID# 3848

Raley's/BelAir/Nobhill also support some of our school parent booster programs.  These programs are not a part of the District Scrip Program.  If you sign up under one of these "booster" programs, your student's account will not be credited.  The purpose of these programs is to raise money for their specific sports, club, or program.  For example:  Sober Grad Night, Music Boosters, Cross Country, Softball, etc.  Raley’s/Bel Air/Nob Hill Foods absorb all administrative costs associated with the Quality of Life Paperless Scrip Card Program, so there is no charge to you.

Please Note!

If you have received a Quality of Life Card from an organization outside of the El Dorado Union High School District, you must report your card number to Kelly Parker (see contact information below) and make sure you have a Scrip Program Account Set-up Form on file with the El Dorado Union High School District, otherwise your student's account will not be credited.  Raley's Markets report their contributions using only the Quality of Life Scrip Card Number (first 11 digits) located on the back of your scrip card.  Without this information on file, your scrip credits will be posted to the general athletic fund. Edit your information at www.raleys.com or www.nobhill.com to ensure that the scrip you are earning is going to the high school of your choice.

The eScrip website also offers a program called the eScrip On-Line Mall.  This program allows you to earn scrip credits for internet purchases made with participating merchants.  Use the eScrip On-Line link anytime you are planning an internet purchase and you can add to your scrip earnings.  Participating merchants include Amazon, eBay, JCPenney, Apple Store, Travelocity, Expedia, plus hundreds more.

eScrip charges a monthly 15% administration fee, which is deducted from each individual account. Food4Less/Nugget Markets Scrip Card
Scrip Cards are available at the District Office.  Beginning December 1, 2010, Food4Less and Nugget Markets will begin using an increasing payment scale.  The more you spend the higher the percentage you earn.  When you receive your scrip card, you will need to activate the card at www.f4lscrip.com.  Choose the school your student attends as the beneficiary.  Food4Less/Nugget Market will provide the district with a monthly contribution and report based on your families monthly qualifying purchases.  Food4Less no longer requires families to preload their scrip cards prior to purchases.  Multiple cards can be registered under one family member so that cumulative monthly purchases will earn a greater percentage!

Parents can write down their preference or phone in the information to the Scrip Coordinator. If no parent request is made by July 1st in the year the student graduates, the unused scrip credits will be transferred into a work program account, based on the type of scrip account the student had on file.  For example, A student earning money for an athletic account will donate any unused scrip credits to the school's general athletic account.

Please Note!

Families can and are encouraged to continue their participate in the District Scrip Program after all of their children have graduated from high school.  Scrip credits earned as a Community Supporter can benefit the program of your choice.  Funds earned for these programs go to assist students in meeting their high school expenses when their families are experiencing Economic hardship.  The Athletic Directors and Program Advisors appreciate your continued support of their programs through your scrip donations.
